Capstone Sound Art Projects

post-turtle

This course explores the techniques, aesthetics and cultural resonances of sound art. The course includes the analysis and critique of the students' work, and self-directed projects that give them the opportunity to synthesis ideas discussed in the course with their own interests and technical skills. This senior-level course encourages students to think, articulate and respond creatively to the cultural, philosophical and technical issues underpinning historical and contemporary thinking in sound.

Course: AUDI 415. A. Practicum in Sound Art
Faculty: Prof David Worrall

The Pandemic: Aural Isolation and Relief

pandemic isolation During Covid-19 pandemic, we may have interacted with each other over video conference and telephone calls, but these are not the same as in-person listening experiences. This project is a series of student designs of online continuous user-interactive experiences that acoustically reflect the changing ambiences of people moving from being physically isolated from each other to again interacting in their normal social environments. Visitors are invited to interact and customize these soundscapes to reflect their own personal experiences of this or similar situations.

Course: AUDI 415. Advanced Practicum in Sound Art
Faculty: Prof David Worrall
